After the group stage of ICC Champions Trophy 2017, four teams have qualified for the semi-finals. From Group A, England and Bangladesh made the progression while from Group B India and Pakistan qualified for the last four.
England won all its three matches to top the group with six points. The hosts defeated Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia to earn a place in semis comfortably. With three points, Bangladesh was the second team to advance. The Tigers will be playing their first semi-final as they defeated New Zealand in a crucial match after sharing points with Australia in the rain affected match.
The action in Group B got intense after Pakistan and Sri Lanka
registered wins against South Africa and India. These two wins threw the
group open, and semifinalists were decided in the last two group
matches- India vs South Africa and Pakistan vs Sri Lanka. While India
defeated South Africa to top the group, Pakistan had better of Sri Lanka
in a thrilling contest.
The topper of Group A will now take on
the second-placed team in Group B in the first semi-final. And topper of
Group B will face second-placed Group A team in the second semi-final.

The weather played its part in some of
the matches of Champions Trophy 2017. Australia’s both the matches
against New Zealand and Bangladesh were washed-out without any result.
Weather is likely to improve as we move towards the business end of the
tournament. However, in case if it rains and both the matches are
abandoned without any result then England and India, based on their
group stage position and run-rate will qualify for the finals.
