The stage is set for the second semi-final of ICC
Champions Trophy 2017 where defending champions India will take on the
Bangladesh. The Asian neighbours will try to put their best foot forward
in the knockout clash in Edgbaston, Birmingham. Both India and
Bangladesh had a history when it comes to the gentlemen’s game, both are
passionate when it comes to their game and always go a step further on
the 22-yard strip.
India registered a comprehensive win over
world number one South Africa in their last group match and entered the
semis with a bang. Whereas, Bangladesh had some luck on their side when
they defeated the Black Caps by 5 wickets to reach the semi-finals of
the ICC Champions Trophy for the first time in the history.
In
the warm-up match, India defeated the spirited Bangladesh side by a
whopping margin of 240 runs. The Indian pace attack, particularly
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav rattled the Bangla batsmen with the
pace and swing to which they had no answer. On Thursday, India will
start the do-or-die clash as the favourites but they cannot afford to be
complacent against a resurgent Bangladesh who are no more minnows when
it comes to limited-overs cricket.
