This is the first time India and Pakistan will face each other in any 50-overs ICC tournament’s final. India are being pitted as the favourites for the match, given they defeated the same opponents in their opening match of the tournament, by a huge margin of 124 runs (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method). Indian cricketers are well in form, starting with the batsmen like Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh while the bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah have impressed one and all. However, India’s middle-order batting has not been tested so far.
Pakistan, on the other hand, have pulled off a brilliant comeback after the humiliation against India. They did not lose a single match afterwards and qualified for the semi-final and final. Though their bowling has been the pillar of success, improved fielding and youngsters shining with the bat are positives for the side.
